Rawalpindi Rind Road handed over to LRRA
Rawalpindi Ring Road handed over to Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA) from Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) for final execution. Punjab Government took this decision in light of RDA’s constrained capacity.
As per news sources, Commissioner Rawalpindi will serve as Managing Director of this project. Meanwhile, RDA Project Management Unit (PMU) for RRR linked to LRRA. The notification issued by Punjab Planning & Development Board said RDA will no longer deal with RRR. The decision is taken because of RDA reserved capacity to carry out this huge projects.
In addition, notification did not mention the involvement of National Highway Authority (NHA). Along with that, provincial government will take final decision regarding the funding of Rawalpindi Ring Road. It will be sole decision of Punjab government to whether take funding from Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank of China or any other development partners.
RDA is the apex civic agency of Rawalpindi. Recently, it has delivered several projects in the area. Among all, Rawalpindi-Islamabad Rapid Mass Transit Metro Bus Project is top of line. This project was completed in a short time of 14 months only.
