CDA directed to take action against illegal housing societies in Islamabad
Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeks immediate report from Capital Development Authority (CDA) about the illegal housing societies in Islamabad. A single bench of IHC comprising Chief Justice of IHC Justice Athar Minallah expressed anger over CDA’s performance in demolishing these unlawful projects.
IHC ordered CDA to refrain from destroying kiosks & stalls of underprivileged people. Justice Athar Minallah remarked that why CDA is demolishing kiosks if it cannot demolish a single illegal residential scheme. There are several projects that are working without official No-Objection-Certificate (NOC) under the CDA Ordinance, 1960.

Justice Athar noted, “It is alarming that the CDA and the administration of the Islamabad Capital Territory have no hesitation in demolishing homes of people who are not privileged enough to resist. Meanwhile, CDA higher official did only survey in rich people’s societies. He said no public institution can establish a housing project on the pretext of its employees.
IHC urged CDA to submit a report on this matter at the earliest.
