Rawalpindi Administration announced 2 new public transport routes, leading to New Islamabad International Airport. Since, airport situated at periphery of the city. Thus, this new transport route will provide ease & convenience to citizens.

Commissioner of Rawalpindi, Muhammad Mahmood said since the inauguration of New Islamabad International Airport, no such transport announced to facilitate the commuters. Thus, it ultimately results in to economic exploitation of commuters by transporters. Almost 10 Air-conditioned buses will ply on each of the two routes.

In this regard the details of 2 new routes shared below:

Route 1 to New Islamabad International Airport

In the 1st announced route, vehicles will move between Rawat & Taxila. This route will cross through Soan bus yard, Rawalpindi High Court, Fauji Foundation, district courts, Katchery Chowk to Airport.

Route 2 to New Islamabad International Airport

In the 2nd announced Route, will be stretched from koral chowk. This route will pass through Gulzar-E-Quaid, Shah Khalid Colony, old Benazir Bhutto International Airport, district courts & Katchery Chowk to the airport.

Furthermore, its also expected that at Kuchery Chowk, both routes are expected to converge & pass through Saddar, Qasim Market, Westridge, Johar Chowk & to Kohinoor Mills.

Terms & Conditions

However, Rawalpindi District Transport Board (RDTB) also announced some other terms & conditions. The salient guidelines are discussed below:

  • Transporter Permits for the specific routes are compulsory
  • Transporters must ensure extra space for luggage
  • Suggested fare ranges from PKR 50 to PKR 200
  • Buses should not be older than 2 years
