Capital Development Authority (CDA) & Environment Protection Agency (EPA) decided to reach an agreement. The agreement is made to propose the amendments regarding the rules & regulations of zoning. Earlier, Supreme Court (SC) has suggested CDA to regularize the illegal constructions in new Master Plan of  Islamabad.

Headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, a 2-member bench of Supreme Court asked to submit progress report from CDA about the updated master plan of Islamabad. He added that there are several rumors regarding the encroachments that actually transgress the master plan.

Following, Farzana Altaf Shah, Director General of EPA, said no final decision can be made without Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC), general public & CSA’s input. EPA would consult CDA’s concerned members if educational institutes, healthcare hospitals & slums could be moved to other places.

In addition, CDA along with IMC has also submitted a report to Supreme Court about the landfill site preferences. Upon Supreme Court order, proposed land is handed over to IMC.

Punjab additional Advocate General, Muhammad Shan Gul, was also directed to led a massive awareness campaign. This campaign is all about environmental issues, challenges & its awareness. Moreover, Supreme Court orders to make masses aware about the punishments & penalties for filling drains & stream with litter as well.
