To widen Islamabad Expressway, PWD underpass & Korang Bridge work resumes

Capital Development Authority (CDA) will start the tendering for PWD Underpass Construction. Meanwhile, Korang Bridge will also be widened in order to reduce the bottleneck of Islamabad Expressway. Moreover, Khokhar Hotel turn will be proposed to also turn into fish belly for convenient traffic flow.

In the year 2019, CDA requested PKR 10 Billion in order to broaden Islamabad Expressway, particularly from Koral to GT Road. However, despite of its urgency, only PKR 450 Million were released in budget 2019-20. As per estimate, almost PKR 450 Million is required to complete the mentioned project said Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz. He is Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior Affairs.

Immediate Need of Service Areas

As per CDA laws, housing societies sprawled over 1000 Kanal must construct service areas. However, no such areas witnessed at the moment. Despite of the fact there are several housing societies along Islamabad Express way that are spread over humongous land.

Since, Islamabad Expressway is the major route between Rawalpindi & Islamabad. Thus, it has a heavy traffic flow. It ultimately results in to traffic congestion that lasts for hours especially in mornings and evenings. Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz instructed these societies to construct service area on priority basis.

Khokar Hotel U-Turn

Construction of Khokar Hotel U-Turn will start soon. Previously, it was to begin by CBR Housing Society. However, CDA halted the construction work and moved it in the pipeline.

Performance List

Moreover, in an interview to media, he condemned the performance of Islamabad Mayor, Sheikh Ansar Aziz. Also, he denounced the working of Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC). Talking about his achievement, he mentioned several projects that had gone well in his constituency. The salient ones are listed below:

• Construction of Burma Bridge.
• Up gradation of electricity & gas infrastructure projects.
• Passing of Islamabad Rent Control Act 2019, Islamabad Food Authority Bill along with many others.
• Water supply project from Ghazi Brotha to Islamabad.
• Unveiled the fraud of PKR 7.5 million by the housing society. Plots were speculated to given to NADRA employees.

Furthermore, he also stated that Government jobs from grade 1 to 15 is a genuine right of Islamabad’s citizens. However, they are deprived from it from past several years.
