CDA Proposed new sites for Khokhas

Capital Development Authority (CDA) proposed 12 and 7 locations in urban and rural area respectively. The proposed sites presented before Minister of Interior affairs for relocation of khokhas.

Reportedly, proposal was given by Chairman CDA, Amer Ali Ahmed, during a meeting chaired by Interior Minister, Brig. Ijaz Ahmad Shah. In addition, MNA, Zafar Mirxa, officials from Interior Ministry and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad was also part of the meeting.

Proposed Areas for Khokhas

Mr. Shah added that there should be at least one khokha in areas mentioned below

  • Park road near Rawal Dam Bridge and opposite to Shahzad Town
  • Taramari Chowk
  • Bara Kahu
  • Murree Road
  • Khanna Bridge
  • Chamber Road in Rawat
  • G-7/1 (opposite to Blue Area)
  • G-7/3 (close to Iqbal Hall)
  • G-8/3 (close to PIMS)
  • G-9/2 (opposite to Markaz)
  • I-9/1 (close to sewerage treatment plant)
  • F-10/3 and F-11/2 (both opposite to markaz)

It was also decided that all unified designs should be proposed. Since more than 100 owners filed a petition against CDA for demolishing their licensed khokhas. Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved it decision regarding the issue.  CDA asked to develop khokhas and Islamabad Corporation Islamabad will hand over them to small vendors.
