Islamabad: Acting upon Chairperson Noor ul Amin Mengal’s instructions, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has commenced a focused campaign to dismantle unauthorized showrooms within Islamabad. The crackdown targets shutting down unlicensed showrooms that had sprung up across different sectors and hubs within the city.
During the initial phase of this operation, a total of 28 unlawful showrooms located in areas such as F-10, F-11, and the Blue Area were sealed on the inaugural day. The enforcement teams, consisting of personnel from the Building Control, Enforcement, and Estate departments, were actively involved in taking action against these violators.
Illegal Showrooms: Impact on Public Parking and Pedestrian Movement in Islamabad
These illicit showrooms had not only encroached upon public parking areas but had also impeded pedestrian movement. Chairperson Noor ul Amin Mengal had proactively cautioned property owners through advertisements, advising them against the inappropriate use of their properties for unlawful activities. Furthermore, all structures and properties identified for unauthorized purposes underwent thorough scrutiny.
To date, a total of 117 properties with unlawful showrooms have been targeted for corrective measures. Following the lapse of CDA’s stipulated deadline and multiple notices issued, an extensive survey was conducted. This survey facilitated the compilation of a comprehensive inventory of unauthorized showrooms dispersed across various hubs. Subsequently, guided by pragmatic considerations, the implementation of these corrective actions was set into motion. These efforts are expected to persist until every single illicit showroom has been effectively eradicated.
